Lillibridge to project manage $350m hospital campus restoration
CAMPUS AT METHODIST MEDICAL CENTER OF ILLINOIS WILL GET NEW HOSPITAL ADDITION, COMMUNITY PAVILION AND PARKING DECK
CHICAGO and PEORIA IL, Dec-17, 2008 – The Methodist Medical Center of Illinois (MMCI) in Peoria is going through a major campus restoration, and Chicago-based Lillibridge, one of the nation’s largest private healthcare real estate firms, has been hired as the hospital’s Project Manager.
Lillibridge will manage all of the aspects of the campus redevelopment including a 180-bed hospital addition, a community pavilion, and a parking deck with a covered skywalk.
"Within 45 days of hiring Lillibridge, we had developed a very high comfort level with them", says Michael Bryant, CEO Methodist Medical Center of Illinois. "They investigated every line item on the campus restoration budget and were able to help us make well-informed decisions and approvals. Lillibridge was also instrumental in improving relationships across the entire team."
The 480,000 square foot, seven-story hospital addition has been designed to conserve energy and resources and will achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED certification – the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high-performance "green" buildings. In addition to private patient beds, the new building will house the Methodist Cardiology Group, the imaging department, emergency department, and a floor designed with a shared interventional platform that is dedicated to surgical services. The addition of 180 new beds will include 36 beds for the intensive care unit. Construction will begin in early 2010 and will be completed in late 2012.
A new 80,000 square foot community pavilion will be integrated with the north end of the hospital. The four-story facility will house MMCI’s administrative offices, food service department, a conference center and a series of community education rooms which will be made available for public use. The six-level parking deck, currently under construction, will be attached to the hospital via a new covered skywalk and will be completed late summer of 2009.
MMCI has also awarded high-level oversight of two off-campus projects to Lillibridge.
"We have enjoyed working with Methodist Medical Center on past advisory projects and we're very happy to be involved in this Hospital Project Management assignment with them," says Lillibridge Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Todd W. Lillibridge. "The new facilities that are part of the campus restoration will bring valuable expanded medical services to the residents of Peoria."
