Lillibridge Selects Shannon-Waltchack for Birmingham MOBs

Experienced local healthcare real estate broker chosen to spearhead leasing for medical office buildings on the St. Vincent's East campus

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 9, 2011 - Birmingham-area physicians who need conveniently located, modern medical office space have a new resource. Three Class A, on-campus medical office buildings (MOBs) in east Birmingham are now represented by an experienced local healthcare real estate broker.

Shannon|Waltchack has been chosen to lead outside leasing efforts for the MOBs at 46, 48 and 52 Medical Park Dr. E. on the St. Vincent's East medical campus. The owner and property manager of the MOBs is Lillibridge Healthcare Services Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ventas Inc. (NYSE: VTR).

"Shannon|Waltchack's team has extensive experience assisting medical tenants with their space needs," explains Chuck Fendrich, executive vice president, property management, for Chicago-based Lillibridge. "Our physician-tenants, their patients, St. Vincent's East and Lillibridge will all benefit from Shannon|Waltchack's consultative approach to matching the right medical practices with the right spaces."

"Lillibridge's on-campus MOBs are fabulous properties - comparable to anything in the Southeast," says Tim Blair, a principal with Shannon|Waltchack. "Local physicians have a great opportunity to enhance and grow their practices by locating in these premier properties."

The buildings, which total more than 400,000 square feet, are the:
  • six-story, 205,000 square foot St. Vincent's East MOB 46
  • four-story, 98,500 square foot St. Vincent's East MOB 48
  • four-story, 98,200 square foot St. Vincent's East MOB 52
All three MOBs feature covered entrances and are physically connected to the main hospital.

For more than 60 years St. Vincent's East hospital has provided healthcare services to Birmingham and surrounding communities. As one of five facilities comprising St. Vincent's Health System, St. Vincent's East is a member of Ascension Health, the nation's largest Catholic and largest not-for-profit healthcare system.

"With the many changes taking place in the healthcare industry today, maximizing efficiency is more important than ever," Mr. Fendrich notes. "Locating your medical practice on a thriving hospital campus provides fast and convenient access to referrals, patients, colleagues, inpatient and emergency services, and a range of other amenities. What better way for physicians to serve their patients while boosting their productivity and growing their practices?"
