Lillibridge purchases 448,000 sf medical office building portfolio in Birmingham, AL


National Healthcare REIT Expands Southeast Presence

CHICAGO, Oct-31 2006 — Lillibridge, one of the nation's largest private healthcare real estate firms, is pleased to announce its acquisition and immediate leasing and management responsibilities of three medical office buildings totaling 448,000 sf on the campus of Medical Center East (MCE) in Birmingham, AL. MCE is managed by St. Vincent's Health System (STVHS) whose parent organization - Ascension Health - is the nation's largest Catholic and largest nonprofit healthcare system.

The three medical office buildings are referred to as: Medical Office Building (MOB) 48 (116,972 sf built in 1989); MOB 52 (104,000 sf built in 1985); and Regional Care Center (MOB 46, 227,237 built in 2004). The buildings were previously owned by Birmingham-based Inkana Development.

On the selection process, Ann Purdy, STVHS Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer said, "We are looking forward to working with Lillibridge because of their excellent leasing and management track record."

Dena Flippen, a 20-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry - including 10 years in the healthcare sector - will handle all leasing and management responsibilities at each of the three medical office buildings at St. Vincent's. The Lillibridge-Ascension Health relationship began in 2003. Lillibridge now owns, leases and manages 24 on-campus buildings totaling in excess of 1.7 million sf on four major Ascension Health hospital campuses in Indianapolis, Kansas City, Austin, Kalamazoo and Birmingham.
